Park Hill Neighbors for Equity in Education (PHNEE)

School of Breaking partnered with PHNEE (Park Hill Neighbors for Equity in Education) which is a group of engaged parents and community members working to ensure that all students attending our neighborhood’s elementary schools get a quality education. Inspired by Park Hill’s legacy of social justice activism, PHNEE is committed to engaging our community to work towards improved equity in our neighborhood elementary schools through awareness building, shared resources and policy changes. PHNEE envisions a unified, engaged, and inclusive community, and believes that one of the first steps towards achieving that goal is community building.

This was a great opportunity to provide students from all of the Denver Elementary Schools in the Park Hill neighborhood the opportunity to come together in community through shared experiences, collaboration, building trust and having fun.

The other group that PHNEE  partnered with was the Park Hill Collective Impact, whose mission is to ensure that every single young person in Park Hill is provided the support needed to thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and economically from birth through age 25.

School of Breaking Instructors Mr. Raw, Mr. Tommy, Mr. Bowzer and Mr. Chase were in the building to provide a 45-minute School Demo and afterwards break up into 4 locations to teach two separate 30-minute Workshops for all the 3rd graders. All 3rd graders from Smith, Hallett, Stedman, and Park Hill Elementary Schools were  invited to come together for a great day of collaboration, creativity and community building! The first annual One Park Hill event was awesome!! Huge thanks to Park Hill Collective Impact, School Of Breaking and the PHNEE resources team for making this happen.
